Abstract
The present study was conducted to study suitability of ground water for Irrigation purposes. The water samples for the physico-chemical analysis were collected from the open well of the 95 locations from Upper Berach river basin to analyzed for TDS, pH, EC, Ca, Mg, Na, K, Cl, SO4, CO3, HCO3. Water quality index has been (WQI) calculated to evaluate the water quality of the river basin. The mean concentration values for TDS, pH, EC, Ca, Mg, Na, K, Cl, SO4,CO3, HCO3 are observed 1397.99 mg/L, 7.9, 2.35 dS/m, 3.73 mg/L, 7.62 mg/L, 12.63 mg/L, 0.70 mg/L, 14.41 mg/L, 3.56 mg/L, 0.15 mg/L and 6.01 mg/L in pre monsoon and 896.20 mg/L, 8.01, 1.56 dS/m, 2.61 mg/L, 4.89 mg/ L, 7.93 mg/L, 0.48 mg/L, 9.37 mg/L, 2.35 mg/L, 0.17 mg/L and 4.00 mg/L respectively in post monsoon. ARC/GIS-10.1 software was utilized to show the spatial variation of WQI.
