Abstract
To study the morphology of rumen ciliates from the subfamily Diplodininiinae rumen fluid samples were observed from adult Indian cattle Bos indicus. The present paper deals with the occurrence of Diplodinium sinhalicum (Imai, 1986) and Diplodinium leche (Imai, et al. 1992). The body dimensions, frequency distributions are compared to those previously reported for other animal hosts living in differential geographical locations. This study reports D. sinhalicum firstly in India and D. leche reports new host record from the rumen of cattle B.indicus as well as first report from India.
