Abstract
The present investigation was conducted at Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru, during 2011-2012. The main aim of study was to evaluate gladiolus genotypes for corm and cormel production. All the parameters such as Number of corms per corm, Weight of corm (g), Corm diameter (cm), Number of cormels per corm, Weight of cormel (g), Cormel diameter (cm) were found significant. Genotype âArka Amarâ produced the maximum corms per mother corm (2.91). Genotype âIIHRG-12â recorded the maximum corm weight (87.77 g, maximum corm diameter (6.62 cm), highest number of cormels (45.40) per corm, maximum cormel diameter (1.39 cm). Genotype âArka Aayushâ produced the maximum weight of cormel (1.17 g). The promising genotypes viz., âArka Amarâ and âIIHRG-12â can be used for commercial cultivation and in varietal improvement programme for corm and cormel production.
