Abstract
The study area is located in the center of west Azerbaijan province, south of Urmia city, Urmia â Oshnavieh road, near the village of Barouzh. Permian deposits have extensive out crops especially in Alborz-Azerbaijan. In this zone, two strati form units, Doroud (at the bottom) and Routeh (above) is representative of Permian sequences. These formations are each only a complete sedimentary cycle that is placed between two erosional levels. In the study area, thickness of Doroud formation is about 158 m and consists of sandstones mainly brown quartz. Doroud formation is covered by isocline unconformityof Routeh formation. In this area, Routeh formation has more exposures and includes: limestone, dolomitic limestone and frequency of shale and limestone with thickness about 200 meters from bottom to the top. Border of Doroud and Routeh formations indicates the occurrence of a tectonic phase. Results of water samples analysis taken from the region obviously demonstrate that water quality in the area placed in appropriate range according to the WHO standards.
