Abstract
A survey of ethnobotanical important host plants of parasitic weed âWoe-vineâ (Cassytha filiformis L.) in Enugu State, Nigeria was carried out between May and October 2013, The results showed that C. filiformis was found to be attacking diversified host plant species of varied ethnobotanical values which belong to several families. The parasitic weed was mostly observed in forest, bushes, and abandoned and cultivated farm lands. The attack of this parasitic weed was highest on Caesalpinaceae, Papilionaceae, Euphobiaceae and Mimosaceae families. These host plants serve various economic values which include medicinal purpose, wood fuel, timber, vegetables, condiments for food, edible fruits and seeds, dyes, oils etc. various control measures are discussed.
