Abstract
Studies conducted to evaluate the effect of period of bark harvesting and diameter class on quality parameters of bark of Terminalia cuneata indicated that the period of November to January and diameter class of 30-35 cm were found ideally suitable and more promising for bark harvesting and obtaining maximum bark thickness (5.62 mm) and fresh weight (32.44 to 37.98 g/50cm2). The maximum mean per cent tannin content of 7.02 was found in bark harvested during the month of March, while the diameter class of 25-30 cm was found more promising on the basis of maximum per cent tannin (6.18) irrespective of period of bark harvesting. Relatively very low per cent tannin (3.56-3.76) was noticed in the bark harvested during April-May.
