Abstract
Co(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) complexes of 4-(((2-methoxynaphthalen-1-yl)methylene)amino) naphthalene-1 sulfonic acid were synthesized and characterized. Conductance measurements indicated their non electrolytic nature, while elemental analysis confirmed their chemical composition. IR spectra showed the presence of the (-CH=N-) group and MâN and MâO coordination. Electronic spectra were recorded in the 200â800 nm range. The results suggested distorted square-planar to tetrahedral geometries, with the metal ion coordinated by two nitrogen and two oxygen atoms.
