Abstract
An experiment was carried out during the period of 2017-19 to assess the yield performance of the diverse Colocasia cultivars of Dima Hasao District in the Experimental Farm, Department of Horticulture, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat with three replications in Randomized Block Design. A total of 16 cultivars were collected from the five blocks viz. Harangajao, Mahur, Maibang, Diyungbra and Sangbar of Dima Hasao district. Significant variation was revealed by the cultivars for yield parameters. The cultivar Thaklong 1 registered the maximum corm length (48.95 cm), weight of corms per plant (2250 g), and yield per plant (3.36 kg). Maximum number of corms (2.56 numbers per plant) was found in Cultivar Thaklong-galao whereas cultivar Thagajao-2 was recorded with maximum number of cormels (23.92 per plant). Thahon-1 recorded maximum cormel weight (883.33g) and corm diameter (8.87 cm). Based on the performance, cultivar Thaklong-1, Thaklong-2, Thahon-1 and Thaklong-galao were found to be better genotypes that can be further used for breeding programmes for genetic improvement,
