Abstract

Green corrosion inhibitors are one of the most important modern corrosion prevention techniques since they are an inventive method that has little effect on the environment and effectively lowers corrosion rates. This study aimed to determine the phytochemical profiling and anticorrosive properties of the leaves extract from Azima tetracantha and A. tetracantha leaves extract revealed the absence of alkaloids in the aqueous extract but the presence of tannin, saponins, flavonoids, steroids, terpenoids, polyphenol, glycoside, antroquinone and coumarins. Significant levels of total phenol (214.00mg/g) and flavonoids (70.00mg/g) were present in the extract. A histochemical analysis of powdered A. tetracantha was examined. The findings further supported the phytochemicals’ existence. The A. tetracantha extract had a very high inhibitory efficiency (67.75%) at a dose of 1000 mg/100 ml because it had a better adsorption on the mild steel surface. Our findings show that A. tetracantha has a promising nature for metal coating and anticorrosive steel applications in industries.
