Abstract
A field experiment was conducted during the rabi season of 2025-26 at the Crop Research Centre, ITM University, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, to evaluate the influence of sulphur and zinc fertilization on yield attributes, yield and oil content of Indian mustard (Brassica juncea L.). The experiment was laid out in factorial randomized block design with three sulphur levels (20, 40 and 60 kg ha-¹) and three zinc levels (5, 10 and 15 kg ha-¹), along with an absolute control. Sulphur and zinc levels improved yield attributes and yield over the control. Among sulphur levels, S @ 60 kg ha-¹ recorded the highest grain yield (2040 kg ha-¹), stover yield (5144 kg ha-¹), biological yield (7184 kg ha-¹) and harvest index (28.40%), while remaining statistically at par with S @ 40 kg ha-¹ for yield parameters. Among zinc levels, Zn @ 15 kg ha-¹ recorded higher grain yield (2020 kg ha-¹), stover yield (5144 kg ha-¹), biological yield (7164 kg ha-¹) and harvest index (28.20%). The interaction effect was significant for grain, stover, and biological yield, and the interaction tables are presented separately for clarity. Oil content increased significantly with sulphur and zinc application, with the maximum oil content under S @ 60 kg ha-¹ (41.16%) and Zn @ 15 kg ha-¹ (40.51%). The study indicates that balanced application of sulphur and zinc improves yield and oil content of Indian mustard under the agro-climatic conditions of Gwalior.
