Abstract
This paper reports the first photographic documentation of the Eurasian Wryneck (Jynx torquilla) in the Kendrapara district of Odisha, India. A single individual was observed and photographed on February 14, 2026, in the open agricultural landscape of Bisibila Pata. Previously documented in the districtâs protected mangrove habitats without photographic validation, this sighting confirms the speciesâ presence in anthropogenically altered peri-urban spaces. With this report, the regional distribution map of the Eurasian Wryneck has been updated. Furthermore, it confirms the use of Pata as a wintering ground or stopover site by migratory birds in coastal Odisha.
