TRICHODERMA VIRIDAE POTENTIAL AS A DUAL-PURPOSE AGENT FOR GROWTH PROMOTION AND BIOLOGICAL CONTROL IN AGRICULTURE

Kalpana Palghadmal

Abstract

Trichoderma viridae was isolated from Pravara area and was tested for antagonistic screening against fungal pathogens like Aspergillus flavus, Alternaria solani, Fusrium moneliformae and Rhizopus spp. of grapes crop plants. The isolated Trichoderma viridae showed 100% growth inhibition against fungal pathogens in dual culture and poisoned plate technique Trichoderma viridae culture can be used as a foliar spray as a bio control and growth promoter for crop plants. The in vitro effect of certain fungicides, insecticides, and bio pesticides on mycelial growth of Trichoderma viridae was evaluated. The present results will help delineate the possibility of combining T. viridae biocontrol agents and agrochemicals for use in an integrated pest management approach.
