Abstract
To investigate the impact of different phosphorus levels combined with biofertilizers influencing growth and yield performance of black gram, a field trial entitled âStudy on various phosphorus levels with biofertilizers on growth parameters and yield of black gram (Vigna mungo L.)â was conducted. The experiment consisted of different phosphorus levels (20, 40, and 60 kg P2 O5 ha-¹) together with biofertilizers such as Rhizobium, PSB, and VAM. The findings revealed that the application of phosphorus and biofertilizers together had a substantial impact on growth metrics including plant height, branch count, leaf number, and root nodulation and fresh and dry plant weight. Among all treatments, the incorporation of 60 kg P2 O5 ha-¹ along with Rhizobium inoculation (T10) exhibited the highest growth attribute values at different growth phases of the crop. The integrated application of phosphatic fertilizer and biofertilizers also notably enhanced yield traits such as test weight, pods per plant, and grains per pod. Treatment T10 (60 kg P2 O5 ha-¹ + Rhizobium) produced the highest grain yield (14.86 q ha-¹) and stover yield (21.04 q ha-¹), whereas the control treatment recorded the lowest values. Overall, the study it was concluded that the use of 60 kg P2 O5 ha-¹ is the best method for boosting growth attributes and yield of Rhizobium was inoculation black gram.
