CLIMATIC AND EDAPHIC FACTORS INFLUENCING THE DISTRIBUTION OF THE GENUS NOTHOPEGIA BLUME NOM.CONS. AN ENDEMIC TREE IN CENTRAL WESTERN GHATS KARNATAKA, INDIA

Venkatesh Jugal and Shrishail H.C.

Abstract

The distribution and diversity of trees are abundant in areas with moderate rainfall, according to the study’s evaluation of rainfall data. The species’ flowering is influenced by the temperature in the study regions. Soil research indicates that locations with pH levels between 5.6 and 6.0 have a higher distribution and variety of Nothopegia Blume. The Central Western Ghats’ valley regions are home to a variety of tree species. These valleys are rich in all kinds of nutrients, macro and micro. Increased soil nitrogen levels result in a larger density of the tree species. The distribution of the species was greater at higher altitudes than at lower altitudes when the diversity and altitudinal data were connected. Most members of the genus Nothopegia Blume are found in higher altitudinal regions. This study indicates that the distribution of tree species is significantly positively impacted by elevation.
