ARDUINO-BASED ENVIRONMENTAL RISK ASSESSMENT FOR SMART TRIAL ROOMS TO PREVENT CONTAGIOUS DISEASES

Abstract

Shopping malls and retail clothing outlets have high customer footfall. Particularly in clothing trial rooms, where garments are repeatedly tried by different individuals. This repeated usage poses a substantial risk of transmission of contagious diseases and fungal infections through contaminated garments and enclosed environments. This proposed model represents an Arduino-based smart trial room system integrating RFID-based clothes tracking and time-based billing, automated UV-C (254 nm/FTL) sanitization, and real-time environmental risk assessment. Environmental parameters such as relative humidity, temperature, occupancy count, CO2 concentration, and surface moisture are monitored to determine a fungal and contagious disease risk index. Based on the estimated risk, dehumidification, automated control of ventilation, and UV sanitization is performed. The proposed model demonstrates a reduction in high-risk conditions, improved hygiene obedience and significantly reduces the risk of contagious diseases while preserving operational efficiency and ensuring customer safety.
