Abstract
The observations regarding pair formation in Vigorâs Sunbird (Aethopyga vigorsii; Sykes, 1832) within the designated area of Sindhudurg indicated that this process commenced in August 2022. Subsequently, the selected partners engaged in nest construction together. It was noted that Vigorâs Sunbirds typically select locations for nesting at heights ranging from 1.5 to 3.5 meters on slender tree twigs or wires or other secure spots. Throughout this study, clutch sizes varied between two and three eggs. The female incubated these eggs for a period of 9-12 days, with the nestling phase lasting approximately 15 days. The breeding success rate was moderate due to predation threats from cats, squirrels, crows, koels, and various raptors. Both parents were actively involved in nurturing their fledglings through feeding and cleaning the nest while also training them to evade predators and achieve successful flight.
