Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the factors influencing public acceptance of community wastewater treatment systems. A quantitative research approach using a survey method was employed. Data were collected from 400 respondents living in urban communities through structured questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis. The findings revealed that the overall level of public acceptance toward community wastewater treatment systems was high. Environmental awareness was identified as the most influential factor affecting public acceptance, followed by knowledge of wastewater impacts, trust in government agencies, and community participation. The study also found that respondents who had greater environmental awareness and understanding of wastewater problems were more likely to support wastewater treatment projects. In contrast, economic cost did not significantly influence public acceptance. The findings suggest that promoting environmental education, strengthening public participation, and improving trust in government agencies are important strategies for enhancing sustainable wastewater management and environmental development within communities.
