Abstract

F1 generation an experiment was also conducted using a line x tester mating with eight lines along with three tests ANOVA revealed there is a substantial degree of genetic diversity and that parents and hybrids differed significantly on all examined variables arkaunnati had the highest production per plot (34.88 kg) whereas pusa kranti had the fruit count per plant (26.77) and per-plant yield (2.23) hybrids with superior yield plot-1 performance were ss long x arkaunnati (43.93 kg) and br-28 x pusa purple long (42.80) all showed strong positive associations with the overall fruit output per plot according to these characteristics directly improved yield the ability analysis combination showed higher non- additive gene action due to greater sca variance relative to gca variance the check variety was a ss long x pusa purple long as the maximum level of heterosis then br-28 x pusa purple long (98.62) and then arkaunnati x ss long (70.33) such hybrids were found to be potential pairings to enhance fruit yield as well as be suggested to be tested in multilocation before exploitation
