Abstract
Field Experiments were conducted at Agronomy Research farm, Acharya Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, Kumarganj, Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh, India), during Kharif season of 2024 and 2025 to evaluate different establishment methods and weed management practices under puddle rice (Oryza sativa L.) in split-plot design with three replications. with three crop-establishment methods, viz. Transplanting (S1), Drum seeded Rice (S2) and Direct Seeded Broadcasting (S3) and 5 weed management practices, viz. Pre application of Pendimethalin @ 1000 g a.i. ha-1 f/b Post application of Bispyribac Sodium @ 25 g a.i. ha-1 at 25 DAS/T (W1), Brown manuring by Bispyribac Sodium @ 25 g a.i. ha-1 at 25 DAS/T (W2), Pre application of Pendimethalin @ 1000 g a.i. ha-1 f/b Brown manuring by Bispyribac Sodium @ 25 g a.i. ha-1 at 25 DAS/T (W3), Hand Weeding 15DAS/T, 30DAS/T,15DAS/T & 60 DAS/T (Weed free) (W4) and Weedy check (W5). The results revealed that transplanting resulted in significant increase in growth characters, viz. plant height and leaf area index, panicles m-2, grain yield and straw yield of rice. With regard to weed management practices, Hand Weeding 15DAS/T, 30DAS/T, 15DAS/T & 60 DAS/T (Weed free) maximum plant height, leaf area index and recorded higher grain and straw yield. It was statistically at par with Pre application of Pendimethalin @ 1000 g a.i. ha-1 f/b Brown manuring by Bispyribac Sodium @ 25 g a.i. ha-1 at 25 DAS/T.
