Abstract
The effectiveness of several plant-derived extracts in reducing carbon steel corrosion in a hydrochloric acid environment was investigated in this study. The study focused on the stem extracts of Moringa oleifera (MO), Hibiscus sabdariffa (HS), and Coccinia grandis (CG). To assess their effectiveness in reducing corrosion, weight-loss and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy were used. All three extracts work as mixed-type corrosion inhibitors, according to the polarization results from the Tafel study. The establishment of a layer of protection on the metalâs surface was clarified by using surface studies using SEM. An inhibition pathway was suggested on the basis of the phytochemical compounds that were identified.
