Abstract
The current study provides information about physical and chemical characteristics of Tattapani thermal spring. The presence of minerals in hot water probably reflects the geology of the area. The application of water quality index revealed that water quality of Tattapani thermal spring was good throughout the year. Also, the concentration of heavy metals analyzed were within the permissible limits except cadmium which slightly exceeds the standardized value. Thus, it is important to monitor the physical and chemical composition of thermal springs and also make a regular check on its use for recreational activities.
