N.G. Wagh, S.P. Ghanwat and A.R. Tuwar

Abstract

This review explores the current understanding of freshwater Hyphomycetes in the Ahmednagar District of Maharashtra, India, by examining their ecological roles, impacts of environmental changes, and anthropogenic activities on their populations. Despite their critical function in aquatic ecosystems, particularly leaf litter decomposition and nutrient cycling, studies in this geographic region remain sparse. Through an analysis of available literature and analogous research from similar ecosystems, this paper identifies key knowledge gaps and proposes directions for future research in this area.
