Anita Malav and Poonam Jaiswal

Abstract

The present study was conducted in the Nanta forest area, situated within the Sakatpura forest range of the Kota Forest division. Nanta is situated between 25.21525° latitude and 75.8311° longitude and comes under Ladpura Tehsil of Kota district (Rajasthan). The study’s objective was to propose an environmental management plan based on the findings of the research work. Two sites were considered: one a protected vegetation site (control site) and the other an unprotected vegetation site (experimental site). Results show that species richness, vegetation cover, plant density, and soil organic matter are lower in the unprotected site than in the protected site. An “Environmental Management Plan” was proposed, which included protection of vegetation, encouraging natural regeneration, stakeholder participation, and monitoring and maintenance.
