Abstract
Technology is regarded as the very vital agent of growth and development of any sector of economy, be it an industrial or agricultural sector of economy. In agriculture effective and timely intervention of improved agricultural technology has a very positive result on the production, productivity and profitability. Present study was conducted in Kamrup district of Assam to find out the impact of Technology Interventions undertaken by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kamrup in the district on production and profit in rice seed production. Among the total beneficiary of 120 farm households where intervention was taken for quality seed production of Sali paddy with variety Ranjit, field survey was conducted in 60 numbers of randomly selected farm households and data were collected in an especially designed pre-tested interview. The study revealed that the productivity of rice crop increased by 65.86 per cent, gross return increased by 148.79 per cent. Per hectare net return in rice cultivation due to the technology intervention increased by 14.53 timeâs, benefit-cost ratio of the crop increased by 113.51 per cent in the sample area. There was an increase in the knowledge level of farmers, by 31.79 per cent, due to technology intervention, over their knowledge level without having technology intervention. Similar type of effective technology intervention in other crops particularly in suitable remunerative vegetable crops and pulse crops in the sample area may definitely yield similar type of good result in the sample area.
