Abstract
Solanum elaeagnifolium Cav. (Silverleaf Nightshade), locally known as (Hullu Badane) in Kannada, is reported as a naturalized invasive species in Karnataka, India, with new occurrences documented in Belagavi district. The species is a native to the North America, it is now naturalized and invasive in several parts of India, posing threats to crops and biodiversity. Despite its toxicity to livestock, the species contains valuable phytochemicals with larvicidal, insecticidal, and medicinal properties. Effective management is essential to control its spread, while its bioactive compounds offer potential for development as natural herbicides and therapeutic agents.
