NATURE-BASED PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: TRANSFORMING HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONSCIOUSNESS

N. Madhavan

Abstract

The demand to address both ecological sustainability and human health is growing as environmental issues become more exhorting on a global scale. In the past, students’ physical fitness, skill development and healthy lives have been the main goals of physical education (PE). The idea of combining environmental activities with physical education presents a special chance to raise a generation that is both ecologically concerned and physically active. There are chances to improve both personal health and environmental awareness when nature-based physical activities are incorporated into educational and community initiatives. The need for holistic approaches that address both ecological sustainability and human wellbeing is more important than ever as the world struggles with growing health challenges like obesity, mental health issues and lifestyle-related diseases. In this scenario, the Green Schools Program in the United States, the Eco-Schools Initiative in Europe and the Sports for Nature program in Australia are just a few examples of effective instances that show how to combine environmental conservation with physical education. Therefore, combining environmental conservation with physical education is a revolutionary way to teach that takes into account both the demands of ecological sustainability and human health. Thus the paper, looks at how physical education (PE) might promote environmental conservation while also improve physical health.
