Mousumi Gogoi and Sangyu Yaden

Abstract

Rainfall variability includes the variations in the rainfall patterns which last for a longer period of time. It is very crucial to understand the periodic variability of a region for predicting the effects of climate change. The study focuses on the rainfall changes over the past 30 years in the Panidihing Bird Sanctuary area. Since the wetlands present in the area are highly vulnerable to the changing rainfall patterns. In the present study, the rainfall data of the study area has been collected from the NASA POWER Access climatic data sets to examine and analyse the rainfall variability trends of the Panidihing Bird Sanctuary Area and to determine the statistical significance of the climatic parameter for the period of 1992-2022. The climatic trend shows a gradual increasing trend over the 30-year period. The statistical significance test of the climatic parameters in the study area indicates whether there exhibits any correlation with time.
