EFFECT OF INTEGRATED NUTRIENT MANAGEMENT ON GROWTH AND YIELD OF BROCCOLI (BRASSICA OLERACEA VAR. ITALICA)

Abstract

A field experiment entitled “Effect of integrated nutrients management on growth and yield of broccoli (Brassica oleracea var. L)” CVS Punjab broccoli -1 under Punjab Conditions.” Was conducted during Rabi season 2021-2022 at research farm of Agricultural Sciences, Sant Baba Bhag Singh University, Khiala, Jalandhar, during Rabi season. The field was designed to study the influence of micronutrients on growth and yield of broccoli. The experiment was laid out in Randomised Block Design (RBD) with three replications and eight Treatments having different concentrations of Micronutrients Zinc and Boric acid i.e. T0 = No micronutrients, T1 = Zinc sulphate @ 0.5%, T2= Zinc sulphate @ 0.25%, T3= zinc sulphate@ 0.50 %, T4= Boric Acid @ 0.5%, T5= Boric Acid @ 0.25%, T6 = Boric Acid @ 0.50 % and T8= Zinc sulphate @ 0.5% + Boric Acid 0.25%. The result revealed that growth attributes and yield of cabbage were found significantly increased with the application of Zinc sulphate @ 0.5% + Boric Acid 0.25% in Treatment 7. The maximum number of leaves (17.76), stem diameter (4.8 cm), polar diameter (14.80 cm), equatorial diameter (15.70 cm) minimum number of days to head initiation (48.26), maximum weight of head (1176.3 g) was recorded in treatment combination Zn @ 0.5% + B 0.25%. Plant height at 30 DAT (15.8 cm), 45 DAT (19.93 cm), and 60 DAT (24.89 cm) was also noted highest in Treatment T7 zinc sulphate @ 0.5% + Boric Acid 0.25%. Relatable result was observed at T2= Zinc sulphate @ 0.25% followed by T3= zinc sulphate @ 0.50 %, T4= Boric Acid @ 0.5%, T5= Boric Acid @ 0.25% and T1 = Zinc sulphate @ 0.5%. The result revealed that the treatment T7 (Zn @ 0.5% + B 0.25%.) is superior over other treatments for growth and yield of cabbage.
