Lata Yadav, Dimpal Chhangani, Suresh Kumar and Rajendra Vishwakarma

Abstract

This review explores the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in corrosion studies. It covers corrosion fundamentals, AI/ML basics, and their current applications in corrosion research, including corrosion rate prediction, material selection, real-time monitoring, and control. The paper discusses challenges such as data quality and model interpretability, along with ethical considerations. It also outlines future directions, highlighting the potential of AI/ML in revolutionizing corrosion prevention and control.
