Abstract
An experiment was conducted at the Horticulture Research Block, Department of Horticulture, School of Agricultural Sciences, Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Pathribagh, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India in rabi season of 2021-22 and 2022-23 to find out the effect of organic manures and cultivars on quality attributes in garlic. For experiment, two varieties namely Pahadi Local and Desi Local were used in a Randomized Block Design with three replicates under 12 treatments containing different combinations of organic manures viz.T1 (Control), T2 (Farm Yard Manure@ 10 t/ha), T3 (Vermicompost@ 5t/ha), T4 (Vermiwash@ 50%), T5 (Cow urine @ 20%), T6 (PSB@ 5 Kg/ha), T7 (FYM @ 5 t/ha +Vermicompost@ 2.5t/ha + Vermiwash@ 25%), T8 (FYM @ 5 t/ha +Vermicompost@ 2.5t/ha + Cow urine@ 10%), T9 (FYM @ 5 t/ha +Vermicompost@ 2.5t/ha + PSB@ 2.5Kg/ha), T10 (Vermicompost@ 2.5t/ha + Vermiwash@ 25% + PSB@ 2.5Kg/ha), T11 (FYM @ 5 t/ha +Vermicompost@ 2.5t/ha+Vermiwash@ 25% +Cow urine@ 10% +PSB @ 2.5 Kg/ha), T12 (FYM @ 10 t/ha +Vermicompost@ 5t/ha + Vermiwash@ 50% + Cow urine@ 20% + PSB @ 5 Kg/ha). Results revealed that the maximum moisture content (63.18%) was recorded in Desi Local treated with Vermicompost@ 5t/ha in 2022 whereas in 2023, it was recorded highest (63.06%) in Desi Local treated with Farm Yard Manure@ 10 t/ha. The maximum dry matter content (46.83%) was recorded in Desi Local treated with Vermiwash@ 50% in 2022 whereas in 2023, it was recorded highest (46.53%) in Pahadi Local treated with FYM @ 5 t/ha +Vermicompost@ 2.5t/ha + PSB@ 2.5 kg/ha. The maximum total soluble solids (38.33 0Brix) were recorded in Desi Local treated with control in 2022 whereas in 2023, it was recorded highest (38.660Brix) in Pahadi Local treated with FYM @ 5 t/ha +Vermicompost@ 2.5t/ha + PSB@ 2.5Kg/ha. However, the maximum (5.80) pH was recorded in Desi Local treated with Vermicompost@ 5t/ha in both years.
