Abstract
Nepeta hindostana (B. Heyne ex Roth)-Haines, known as Indian Catmint, is a perennial herb with significant medicinal potential, belonging to the Lamiaceae family. This study focuses on the phytochemical analysis and determination of ash value of Nepeta hindostana to evaluate its bioactive compounds and mineral content. Phytochemicals, including carbohydrate, Protein, Alkaloids, Steroids, Phenolic, Terpenoids, Flavonoids, Saponins and Tannins were investigated for leaves and Stem extract. The ash value, encompassing total ash, acid-insoluble ash, Ether soluble, alcohol soluble and water-soluble ash, was determined to assess the plantâs purity and quality. The findings contribute to the authentication and standardization of Nepeta hindostana, highlighting its potential for pharmaceutical development. This research underscores the importance of combining traditional knowledge with modern scientific methods in the study of medicinal plants.
