Abstract

The present experimental research, entitled “Study on Genetic Variability in Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Genotypes Collected from Eastern India was conducted during Kharif season 2023 at Crop Research Centre-I Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, School of Agriculture, ITM University, Gwalior, M.P India. A Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two replications were used to study heritability, genotypic and phenotypic coefficients of variation (GCV and PCV) and genetic advance as a percentage of the mean (GAM %) for all the yield contributing traits. Number of tillers per panicle recorded highest GCV (40.62) and PCV (40.69) respectively while Days to 50 % flowering had highest heritability h2 (99%). Moreover, Number of tillers per panicle (83.52) and Seed yield per plant (68.72) had highest genetic advance as percentage mean (GAM).
