Abstract
P. purpurogenum isolated in our laboratory was found to produce intracellular and extracellular invertase after 5 and 4 days of incubation, respectively. Conidia of fungus P. purpurogenum were subjected to physical mutagenesis by UV light and for chemical mutagenesis using NTG (3-nitro, 5 methyl guanidine). The colonies were screened after mutagenesis for invertase production. The chemical and physical mu tagenesis of P. purpurogenum resulted in evolution of fungal strain with more invertase production-
