Abstract
Zn and Fe are two of the most important micronutrients required for enhancing the yield and quality of crops. Iron and zinc deficiencies are estimated to affect between 30 and 40 percent of preschool-aged children and expectant mothers in affluent nations. Nano nutrients offer a new tool to increase the yield and nutrient quality of crops. Zinc and iron oxide nano nutrients were synthesized in the lab using the precipitation method. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD). The characterization study of synthesized nanoparticles indicated the crystalline structure with nanoparticles dimensions of 30.5 nm of ZnO and 25.5 nm of FeO. A seed priming experiment was conducted using seed priming of bhendi seeds in various concentrations of ZnO and FeO nanoparticles ranging from 20, 50,100, 200,400, 800, and 1000 ppm. The results of the seed priming experiment indicated the significant influence of Zn and Fe oxide nanoparticles @ 800 ppm in enhancing the growth and vigor of bhendi by recording the highest shoot length (12.83 cm), root length (5.25 cm), shoot dry weight (0.92 g), root dry weight (0.54 g), germination percentage (100) and vigor index (904.0).
