Abstract

Suppressing plant diseases and fostering growth and development are two benefits of Plant Growth- Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR). The current study’s objective is to assess strong isolates that degrade textile dyes for PGP characteristics. The primary goal of this study is to try to increase millets’ yield by utilizing the isolates’ capacity to promote growth. Using molecular methods and biochemical assays, four isolates with strong dye degradation capacity were assessed for PGP characteristics. The isolates S1, G1, MB, and DR showcased various plant growth enhancing features, including indole test, phosphate and zinc solubilization, HCN, ammonia and siderophore production. Among them, S1, G1, and MB showed strong amensalistic activity against Aspergillus sp., with MB achieving the highest inhibition rate of 74.75%. The isolate G1 notably improved plant growth in jowar, increasing plant height, biomass, and root and shoot length by 15% compared to the control. The isolate MB showed a more substantial impact, enhancing bajra growth by 29.8% and ragi growth by 8.4%. A preliminary assay for pot cultivation was conducted. Compared to the other two isolates (G1 and DR), isolate MB displayed the highest level of seed germination.
