Abstract
The individuals of the genus Polythlipta are widely distributed from Bhutan, Africa, India, Zambia, regions to the Australian region containing 19 described species, and which is included in the family Crambidae. Polythlipta divaricata, is one among the 19 species of the genus Polythlipta described from India having a wide range of distribution. The Mitochondrial DNA Barcodes for the species were not available from any region of the world; here we report the first barcode of the species from the country of its type locality. Morphological details of the collection with the male genitalia are provided for taxonomic identification. Identities of the Mitochondrial COI DNA sequences for the genus in the Gen Bank are discussed.
