Subhrajit Ojha, Pooja Ranee Behuria and Gurshaminder Singh

Abstract

Climate-smart agriculture (CSA) is a strategic perspective designed to highlight the challenges posed by climate change while enhancing agricultural productivity. CSA integrates techniques that increase resilience to climate impacts, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote sustainable food systems. Key strategies include adopting conservation tillage, optimizing irrigation and diversifying crops to improve soil health and water use efficiency. CSA also emphasizes on incorporating climate-resilient crop varieties and precision farming techniques to minimize environmental impacts. By aligning agricultural practices with climate goals, CSA not only supports adaptation to climate change but also contributes to mitigation efforts. This approach helps ensure food security, protect natural resources and foster sustainable development. In essence, CSA offers a comprehensive framework for transforming agriculture in response to climate change, promoting both ecological balance and agricultural productivity.
