Abstract
Water scarcity for irrigation is main concern in economic growth of the nation. In order to gear up agricultural production, enough water is required to irrigate more lands. Since surface and subsurface water is not enough to meet this tremendous demand, it is need of hour to find out an alternate source. One such source is treated sewage effluent which our municipalities have in abundance. Thus, the research work using such source for irrigation is carried out, the results of which will help result in reduction of use of good quality of water which then can be beneficial to other needy sectors. With availability of treated sewage effluent for irrigating crops, change in socioeconomic conditions of farmers have been analyzed and envisaged in the paper.
