Abstract
Seventy germplasm lines and four check varieties were assessed for associations among various agronomic traits and path analysis for dry pod yield per plant. The dry pod yield per plant showed highly significant and positive correlations at both genotypic and phenotypic levels with kernel yield per plant, harvest index and dry haulm yield per plant. Path analysis revealed high and positive direct effects of kernel yield per plant, while moderate and positive direct effects of dry haulm yield per plant and harvest index on dry pod yield per plant. Shelling out-turn contributed to moderate and negative direct effects. These results suggest kernel yield per plant, dry haulm yield per plant and harvest index as useful traits for developing high-yielding groundnut varieties.
