Abstract
In Kerala, ecotourism has become a potent strategy for sustainable travel, focusing on protecting natural resources and fostering the financial prosperity of nearby communities. Kerala, a top ecotourism destination in India, is well-known for its abundant biodiversity, verdant landscapes and distinctive cultural legacy. Kerala provides applaudable experiences that balance environmental conservation along with the growth of the tourism industry. Thenmala and Kanthalloor are two of Keralaâs most well-known ecotourism destinations; they both offer unique and sustainable travel experiences that emphasize the stateâs dedication to environmentally responsible travel and tourism. Thenmala and Kanthalloor offer as examples of how ecotourism can be used to promote local livelihoods, encourage community involvement and protect natural habitats. The projects at these locations demonstrate how ecotourism can help local communities economically while preserving Keralaâs natural heritage. Both locations continue to show how tourism can be utilized as a tool for conservation and sustainable development in spite of obstacles like overpopulation and infrastructural needs. Keralaâs ecotourism, as demonstrated by Thenmala and Kanthalloor, successfully strikes a balance between socioeconomic development and environmental integrity, fostering long-term resilience for communities and ecosystems. Kerala is a world pioneer in sustainable tourism which provide insightful information about how ecotourism can protect biodiversity and strengthen local communities. Thus, the paper is an attempt to evaluate the ecotourism potential of Kerala with a foucus on Thenmala and Kanthalloor ecotourism centres.
