Abstract
Nitrogen management aims to minimize output per unit area at the expense of environmental and soil health. It seems that nano fertilizers offer an unprecedented opportunity to reduce the threat of using conventional fertilizers. Therefore, field experiment was conducted at the farmerâs field in Sengunthapuram village, Udayarpalayam taluk of Ariyalur district during Rabi season, 2022 to study the effect of conjoint application of prilled and nano urea on the productivity and profitability of rainfed groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.). The field trial consisted of thirteen treatments in a randomised block design and replicated thrice viz., T1- 50% N as Prilled Urea (PU) at basal+25% N as PU at 20 DAS + 25% N as PU at 45 DAS, T2-75% N as PU at basal + 25% N as PU at 20 DAS + 25% N as PU at 45 DAS, T3- 25% N as PU at basal + 25% N as PU at 20 DAS + 25% N as PU at 45 DAS, T4- 50% N as PU at basal + 25% N as PU at 20 DAS + 25% N as Nano Urea (NU) at 45 DAS, T5- 75%N as PU at basal+25%N as PU at 20 DAS + 25% N as NU at 45 DAS, T6 -25%N as PU at basal +25% N as PU at 20 DAS + 25% N as NU at 45 DAS, T7 - 50% N as PU at basal + 25% N as NU at 20 DAS + 25% N as NU at 45 DAS, T8 -75%N as PU at basal + 25%N as NU at 20 DAS + 25% N as NU at 45 DAS, T9 - 25%N as PU at basal + 25%N as NU at 20 DAS+ 25% N as NU at 45 DAS, T10 -50% N as NU at 10 DAS + 25%N as NU at 25 DAS + 25% N as NU at 45 DAS, T11-75% N as NU at 10 DAS + 25% N as NU at 25 DAS + 25%N as NU at 45 DAS, T12-25% N as NU at 10 DAS + 25%N as NU at 25 DAS+25% N as NU at 45 DAS and T13-absolute control. The results showed that higher number of pegs plant-1, number of pod plant-1, pod yield, kernel yield, haulm yield, harvest index and monetary returns were favourably influenced by the application of 75% RDN through nano urea in three equal splits of 25% RDN at 10, 25 and 45 DAS (T12).
