Abstract
This research paper explores the unique vulnerabilities of islands to global environmental changes, despite their isolation. These regions, known for their unique biodiversity, face significant challenges similar to those encountered by mainland areas. The study focuses on environmental issues, particularly deforestation, in islands such as Hawaii, Indonesia, Mauritius, Sri Lanka, the Virgin Islands, and the Solomon Islands. By examining both historical legacies and contemporary pressures, it identifies a range of concerns, including the effects of climate change and the introduction of invasive species. The analysis provides insights into the complex dynamics shaping the environmental landscape of island societies worldwide.
