Abstract

The vitality of water for redemption of lives on earth is no need to exaggerate. Consciousness on the utility and preciousness of water is increasingly realized day by day and many people now believe that Third World War might be fought over water crisis. All human civilization origin and flourish along the river bank. In fact, it is true to say that ‘No Water, No Development’. But not a single being escapes the urge for water; however, it is limited so to ensure that the sustainability of life, conservation of water is an ensuing compulsion. Aizawl City is in the process of losing the source of harnessing water since the heart of water resources in use has been decreasing and spoiled to some extent. Being in a hilly area alone bears numerous difficulties when it comes to water supply, as it equates with having to pump the water so needed by the public and that too with a large sum. Scarcity is no new to any given place and knows no bounds and neither is it for Aizawl. Primary data and secondary data were gathered. Participant observation was applied in this research paper, which paves the way for a decisive study. This paper attempts to underscore the conditions of the Aizawl water problem and the possible challenges that occur. The findings of the study revealed the huge amount involved in generating water from low-altitude rivers and the distress caused by a shortage of water.
