Abstract
The construction industry, in and of itself is one of the largest contributors to the increasing global carbon emissions and as the rate of construction is predicted to move up due to continued urbanization, it is necessary for alternative materials and techniques to be studied. This paper examines several techniques, like Prefabrication and Additive Manufacturing, and materials like ferrocement and geopolymer cement from fly-ash, and also takes inspiration from the past and discusses about the future of earthen construction which was prevalently used traditionally but then wasnât as popular due to lack of waterproofing however several innovations have been conceived in this domain and now it is a worthy concrete alternative. Each of these techniques and materials presents a unique opportunity to not only reduce the environmental footprint but also creates cost-effective and durable constructions. Through this exploration, this paper underscores the need for continued research and development in this area to ensure a greener future for the construction sector.
