Abstract

The Scanning Electron Microscopic study has been conducted on fourth larval instar of Culex quinquefasciatus Say. The mosquito is cosmopolitan throughout tropical and subtropical regions on earth and a main vector of lymphatic filariasis. The study includes the description of chaetotaxy (arrangement of hairs/Setae) on head, abdominal segment VIII and Siphon. Morphological description of spiracular apparatus on siphon and additional important species-specific characters on abdominal segment VIII and X have also been considered.
