Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2023 at Crop Research centre-1 School of Agriculture, ITM University, Gwalior (M.P.) India to investigate the impact of weed management strategies on weed prevalence, crop productivity and profitability in pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum L.). The experiment was set up in a randomized block design with ten treatments and three replications. The data revealed that the pre-emergence application of Pendimethalin 0.75 kg/ha and Atrazine 0.75 kg/ha (POE) recorded less narrow leaf weeds (3.78 no. m2), broad leaf weeds (4.71 no. m2), sedges (46.24 no. m2), total weed density (54.72 no. m2), and weed dry matter accumulation (26.87 g/m2) at 60 DAS, higher weed control efficiency (83.44%), and higher yield and yield attributes of pearl millet. The pre-emergence application of Pendimethalin 0.75 kg/ha and atrazine 0.75 kg/ha as post-emergence resulted in the highest economics (net return of Rs. 76326 ha-1 and benefit-cost ratio of Rs. 2.48).
