Abstract
French bean is one of the most nutritious and highly relished short duration legume vegetable crops of India. The present investigation was conducted during 2022-2023 to study the evaluation of French Bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) genotypes for growth, pod yield and yield attributing characters at research farm of ICAR NEH region Tripura. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with three replications. The genotypes studied under this experiment were namely Arka Anoop, Arka komal, Arka Suvidha, Anupam, Selection-9, Contender, Falguni, Sonali and Tripura Local. During the investigation different growth, pod yield and yield attributing characters observations were recorded. From the overall point of view, it has been observed that genotypes with bolder seeds and higher bearing capacity per plant give higher seed yield, number of pods per plant had positive contribution to seed yield. The genotype produced longest seed length and widest seed girth was Arka Suvidha (1.60 cm and 7.58 mm) whereas Sonali produced lowest seed length and seed girth (1.16 cm and 5.29 mm). Sonali, Falguni and Contender are the genotypes with lowest seed length and seed girth. Market preference for Arka Suvidha was good and fetched higher price.
