Abstract
The study was conducted on the socio-economic status of Native goat farmers in the Bundi and Tonk districts of Rajasthan. A total of 240 Native goat farmers were randomly selected to assess their socioeconomic status. The study revealed that most of the goat farmers (60.42%) belonged to the 36-59 age group. Most of the farmers (48.33%) were from the MBC category. The overall education status indicated that 58.75% of the respondents were illiterate. The primary occupation of the respondents was agriculture and animal husbandry (71.25%), with 36.25% being marginal farmers. A significant majority (70.42%) of the farmers lived in nuclear families. The annual income of the respondents ranged between 43,277 and 1,32,710, with 65.41% falling within this range, and their annual income from goat rearing was between 28,812 and 1,07,774 for 70% of the respondents. Additionally, the majority of the respondents (59.16%) had medium-sized flocks consisting of 12 to 40 goats.
