Abstract
The corrosion resistance effect of malic acid for Aluminium steel immersed in sodium chloride solution has been evaluated at room temperature by using weight loss method. The corrosion inhibition efficiency increases with increase in concentration of an inhibitor namely malic acid. The corrosion rate decreases when increase in concentration of inhibitor. This is due to at the higher concentration of inhibitor solution which prevents the active site of an aluminium steel and a protective film is formed over the aluminium steel surface. The mechanistic aspect of corrosion inhibition by electrochemical studies, such as polarization studies and AC- impedance spectra. The protective film is formed over the aluminium steel has been characterized by FTIR. It is also recognized by surface analysis technique like scanning electron microscopy. Smoothness and roughness of aluminium steel surface like polished, corroded and inhibitor system has been assessed by SEM.
