Abstract

The field experiment was conducted during rainy (Kharif) season of 2022 at the Crop Research Centre, School of Agricultural Sciences, Shri Guru Ram Rai University, Dehradun, Uttarakhand to study the influence of the application of different types of organic manure and different cultivars on growth, production and economics of soybean (Glycine max L.). The experiment was laid out in factorial design 4×3 factorial randomized block design (FRBD) with 12 treatment wiz 4 organic manure and 3 treatments of distinct cultivars made up the 12 treatment combinations, which had 3 replications. In terms of growth attributes the findings showed that the plant’s height (84.27 cm), the number of branches per plant (12), the number of nodules per plant (60), and the dry weight of the plant (32.54 g); with regard to of yield attributes, the plant has 84 pods, 5 seeds per pod, 15 qha-1 seed yield, 35.66 qha-1 straw yield, Harvest Index (37.36 %), 17.5 % oil content, along with 39.17% protein content. Similarly, the maximum plant height (83.21 cm), the number of branches per plant (11.89), the number of nodules per plant (65.66), and the dry weight of the plant (32.71 g) were recorded under treatment V3 (Pant Soya-1225) compared to the other treatments. Additionally, the yield attributes included the number of pods per plant (79), the number of seeds per pod (4.66), the seed yield (15 qha-1), the straw yield (35.33 qha-1), the Harvest Index (29.74 %), the oil content (17.16 %), and the protein content (39.51 %). The study examined the effects of organic manure on various cultivars. Results showed that treatment T7 (Vermicompost @ 5t/ha + Pant Soya-23) was the most effective in terms of growth attributes, such as plant height (84.10 cm), number of branches per plant (12.21), number of nodules per plant (67), and dry weight of plant (32.28 g); yield attributes, such as number of pods per plant (84), number of seeds per pod (4.77), seed yield (15 qha-1), straw yield (38.33 qha-1), Harvest Index (40.73 %), oil content (18.49 %), and protein content (39.53 %). the application of 5 t/ha of vermicompost considerably increased the various growth and yield-related characteristics of soybeans, while the application of no organic manure (RD) resulted in the lowest yield. It was discovered that the Pant Soya-1225 cultivar was the most productive in terms of yield-attributing traits and growth.
